Yenagoa, Bayelsa State – May 28, 2026
Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, has extended warm greetings to the Muslim Ummah in the state and across Nigeria on the occasion of the Eid al-Adha celebration, also known as Eid-el-Kabir.
In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Mr. Daniel Alabrah, Governor Diri described the festival as a commemoration of the sacrifice and obedience of Prophet Ibrahim, noting that such virtues remain essential for every true believer.
The Bayelsa governor urged Muslims to continue to uphold the teachings of their faith by praying for peace, security, and the wellbeing of the state and the country, especially at a sacred period such as this.
He also admonished the faithful to look beyond the celebration and consistently imbibe the virtues of patriotism, selflessness, patience, and sacrifice in their daily lives.
Governor Diri further charged Muslims to draw inspiration from these moral values in strengthening the bonds of brotherhood and peaceful coexistence with residents and adherents of other faiths across the state.
According to him, Nigeria is currently passing through a crucial socio-economic phase that requires prayers, resilience, and patience from citizens to overcome prevailing challenges.
The governor expressed optimism that with collective resolve and unity of purpose, the country would attain its desired greatness.
