Gov. Yusuf Commends INEC, Security Agencies for Peaceful Conduct of Bye-Election in Kano

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has extended his commendation to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies for their pivotal roles in ensuring the peaceful and orderly conduct of the recent bye-election in Kano State.
The election, which took place in the Kano Municipal and Ungogo State Assembly Constituencies, was marked by a calm and serene atmosphere, underscoring the growing political maturity of the state.
In a statement issued on Saturday by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Governor Yusuf lauded the significant achievement, describing the election as a major milestone in the state’s democratic journey. The Governor emphasized that the peaceful election process reflected the effectiveness of the security arrangements that were put in place, as well as the cooperative spirit of both the electorate and political parties involved.
“I specifically commend the people of Kano Municipal and Ungogo Constituencies for their discipline, cooperation, and commitment to the peaceful conduct of the election,” Governor Yusuf stated. He also recognized the efforts of the political parties and stakeholders, particularly members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), for their adherence to electoral rules and regulations, ensuring a process free from violence or manipulation.
Governor Yusuf went further to highlight that the bye-election marked a historic moment for the state. “For the first time in recent history, we witnessed an election free of crisis, use of weapons, and any form of manipulation in Kano. This is a clear demonstration that the era of violence, voter disenfranchisement, and electoral malpractices is behind us,” he affirmed.
