Governor Adeleke emphasized the importance of this directive in addressing the state’s food security challenges. “This initiative is a pivotal step towards ensuring food sufficiency and economic prosperity in Osun State,” he stated. “We are committed to supporting our local governments in this endeavor, providing them with the necessary resources and assistance to ensure its successful implementation.”

The government has pledged comprehensive support to the Local Government Chairmen, including technical assistance, provision of quality seeds, fertilizers, and modern farming equipment. This support is intended to maximize the productivity of the allocated farmlands and facilitate large-scale farming operations.

The allocation of 1000 hectares per local government is expected to significantly boost agricultural output, create employment opportunities, and stimulate economic activities in the rural areas. By focusing on large-scale farming, the state government aims to attract both local and foreign investments in the agricultural sector, thereby fostering sustainable development.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security will oversee the implementation of this directive, ensuring that the farmlands are effectively utilized and that the local governments receive the necessary support to achieve the initiative’s goals. The ministry will also monitor the progress and provide periodic reports on the impact of the project.

This development is a testament to Governor Adeleke’s commitment to transforming Osun State’s agricultural landscape. By prioritizing food security and agricultural development, the state government is taking proactive measures to ensure the well-being of its citizens and the overall growth of the state’s economy.

Residents and stakeholders have expressed optimism about the initiative, hoping it will lead to increased food production, reduced food prices, and improved livelihoods for farmers and other citizens involved in the agricultural value chain.

As the implementation begins, all eyes will be on the Local Government Chairmen to see how effectively they can utilize the allocated farmlands and contribute to the state’s ambitious agricultural goals.
