Governor Buni Approves Establishment of Mai Mala Buni College of Integrated Science in Damaturu
October 3, 2025 | Damaturu, Yobe State
Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has officially approved the establishment of a new institution, the Mai Mala Buni College of Integrated Science (MMB-CIS), to be located in Damaturu, the state capital.
The announcement was made by the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Prof. Adam Idriss, who revealed that the governor has also approved the allocation of 100 hectares of land for the college. The site is situated near the Bukar Abba Ibrahim Housing Estate along Potiskum Road, a strategic location that will support the development of the state-of-the-art educational facility.
According to Prof. Idriss, the MMB College of Integrated Science is a legacy project of the Buni administration and is designed to be a pioneering institution that blends modern conventional education with Islamic values. The curriculum will draw inspiration from successful models in Malaysia and Indonesia, where Islamic and secular education systems are integrated into a unified framework.
“This institution is envisioned to raise a new generation of students who are not only grounded in their religious values but also equipped with the scientific and technical skills necessary to thrive in the modern world,” said the Commissioner.
The college is expected to serve as a model for integrated learning in Nigeria, promoting academic excellence, moral discipline, and innovation. By bridging the gap between religious and secular education, the MMB-CIS aims to produce well-rounded graduates capable of contributing meaningfully to both the spiritual and socio-economic development of society.
With this development, Governor Buni reaffirms his administration’s commitment to educational reform and youth empowerment in Yobe State.
