Governor Dapo Abiodun’s Road Infrastructure: Progress, Expansion Plans, and Commitment to Development
Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration has remained steadfast in its commitment to road infrastructure development across Ogun State, prioritizing connectivity, economic growth, and overall quality of life. Since assuming office, his government has constructed over 600 kilometers of roads, including 243.3 kilometers in the Ogun East Senatorial District alone. While significant progress has been made, the administration continues to push for further expansion to ensure no community is left behind.

One of the latest milestones is the reconstruction of the 4.65-kilometer Ojodu Abiodun-Denro-Ishasi-Akute Road in Ifo Local Government Area. This long-awaited project has alleviated severe traffic congestion and improved daily commuting for thousands of residents. In addition, the government has unveiled plans to construct the Alagbole-Akute and Akute-Oke-Aro-Ijoko roads, key routes that will enhance regional connectivity and facilitate business activities.

Beyond urban development, the administration is also prioritizing rural communities by constructing over 64 kilometers of rural roads. These projects are crucial for linking agricultural hubs to markets, reducing post-harvest losses, and boosting farmers’ productivity. The government’s focus on these roads underscores its strategy to balance urban expansion with rural accessibility.

Several other major roads have also been approved for reconstruction, particularly in the Ogun East Senatorial District. Among them are the Imoro-Imegun-Opopo Road, Igbeba-Eid Praying Ground to Prison Road, Imoru Road in Ijebu-Ode, and the Odelewu-Ladeshi-Ishiwo Road. These projects reflect the administration’s resolve to revamp critical road networks across the state.
Governor Abiodun has reiterated that while these developments are being executed in phases, every effort is being made to address critical road projects systematically. The government assures Ogun residents that all deplorable roads will be attended to in due course, with a clear plan in place for continuous assessment and prioritization.
As Ogun State continues to experience infrastructural transformation, the administration remains committed to ensuring that development is widespread, sustainable, and impactful. With ongoing and future projects, Governor Abiodun’s vision of a well-connected, economically vibrant Ogun State is steadily becoming a reality.
