Governor Yusuf Commends Nigerian Army’s Efforts in Combating Banditry, Receives GOC 1 Division in Kano
Kano, November 5, 2025
Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has commended the Nigerian Army and other security agencies for their swift and coordinated response to recent banditry attacks in parts of the state.
This commendation was contained in a statement released by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Wednesday in Kano.
Governor Yusuf made the remarks while receiving the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division, Nigerian Army, Kaduna, Major General Abubakar Sadiq Muhammad Wase, at the Government House, Kano.
Major General Wase, who was in the state to assess the security situation in Shanono and Tsanyawa Local Government Areas, reflected on his emotional connection to Kano, recalling his early days at the Government House where his late father, Colonel Muhammad Abdullahi Wase, served as Military Sole Administrator in 1994.
“I am here on a familiarity visit. Since assuming command at 1 Division, I have visited the scenes of recent attacks to commend our gallant officers,” General Wase stated.
Governor Yusuf expressed his deep appreciation to the military for their dedication, professionalism, and sacrifices in safeguarding lives and property. He also extended gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing competent service chiefs who have demonstrated commitment to enhancing national security.
Reaffirming his administration’s unwavering support for security operations across Kano State, Governor Yusuf announced the donation of 10 Hilux trucks and 60 motorcycles to the Joint Task Force operating in the affected areas.
“Our administration will continue to support the Nigerian Army and other security agencies with logistics and intelligence to ensure lasting peace and stability in every part of Kano,” the Governor said.
The visit by the GOC further strengthens collaboration between the state government and the military in tackling banditry, kidnapping, and cattle rustling across Kano and neighboring regions.
