Bags Governor of the Year on Infrastructure and Good Governance
Kano State Governor, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, has reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to justice, infrastructural development, and good governance during the Annual Dinner and Awards Night organized by CREED at Tropical Galeria, Kano.
This was contained in a statement issued on Friday by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.

Represented by the Honourable Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General of Kano State, Barr. Abdulkarim Kabiru Maude, SAN, Governor Yusuf commended CREED for fostering meaningful dialogue around the intersection of law, leadership, and societal advancement.
Justice Reforms in Focus
In his remarks, the Governor emphasized the far-reaching justice sector reforms currently underway in the state. He revealed that a comprehensive review of prolonged detentions in custodial centres had exposed disturbing cases where inmates were held for years without trial, without case files, or without access to legal representation.
Governor Yusuf noted that his administration took swift action to address these injustices by tracing missing files, issuing necessary legal advice, and ordering the release of individuals where justice demanded it. He reaffirmed that the protection of rights and the strengthening of the rule of law remain central to his agenda.
Major Gains in Infrastructure and Governance
Highlighting his administration’s strides in infrastructural development, the Governor pointed to significant progress in:

Road rehabilitation projects across major urban and rural corridors
Improvements in water supply systems to enhance access to clean water
Upgrades of schools and health facilities to improve social services
Ongoing urban renewal projects, aimed at transforming Kano into a safer, cleaner, and better-organized mega city
These efforts, he said, reflect his commitment to building a modern, functional, and globally competitive Kano.
