Hon. Waliu Owode Commends Federal Government’s Policies in New Year Speech, Advocates for Grassroots Support
Abeokuta, Ogun State – Alhaji Hon. Waliu Ifedolapo Owode, member of the Ogun State House of Assembly representing Ijebu East and patron of the AWOOF Foundation, has lauded the federal government for its recent strides in governance during his New Year address on January 3, 2025. Speaking at an event in Abeokuta, Hon. Owode highlighted key achievements such as operational refineries, a reduction in fuel prices, and novel economic policies as indicators of Nigeria’s progress.
Owode, who serves as the chairman of the House Committee on Agriculture, expressed optimism about the nation’s direction, stating, “The country is on the right path. The reforms and policies introduced by the current administration are already yielding positive results. With refineries working and the reduction in fuel prices, the government has demonstrated its commitment to addressing critical economic challenges.”
While applauding these accomplishments, he urged policymakers to keep the welfare of the electorate in focus during the ongoing economic transition. “As the nation navigates this phase, it is imperative for those in positions of power to prioritize the needs of the people. The worst may be behind us, but sustained efforts are needed to ensure that every Nigerian feels the impact of these positive changes,” he added.
In his efforts to support his constituency during the Yuletide, Hon. Owode personally donated over ₦19 million in cash and food items to 11 wards in Ijebu East. The beneficiaries included community leaders, traditional councils, grassroots support groups, religious organizations, and individuals with disabilities.
The initiative has been widely praised as a testament to his dedication to grassroots development and poverty alleviation. Community members have described the donations as timely, particularly during a period of economic hardship.
