
Honoring a Legacy: 1st Year Remembrance of Otunba Ganiu Yinka Owode
In a heartfelt commemoration, family, friends, and well-wishers gathered on Wednesday, January 27, 2024, to celebrate the 1st year remembrance of the late Otunba (Alhaji) Ganiu Yinka Owode. The distinguished national vice chairman of the Ahmadiya movement of Nigeria, former ICAD chairman, and president of the Rotary Club of Ijebu Ife left behind a lasting legacy.

The venue for this solemn yet joyous occasion was the Late Chief’s residence at the prestigious Akinrogun Castle in Ijebu Ife, graciously hosted by the late Otunba’s widow Alhaja Otunba R.K Owode nee Oguntayo. The Otunba Sikunoye of Ijebu Ife, her children including Honorable Owode Waliu Ifedolapo (Currently serving as the honorable member of the Ogun State House of Assembly representing Ijebu East) and his Siblings Adesola Owode,Barr. Hajarat Owode and Lateefat Owode.
Honorable Owode expressed deep gratitude to family and friends who joined in honoring the remarkable life of his late father.
The ceremony began with a fidau prayer, symbolizing the remembrance of the departed soul on the 24th of January. Guests were welcomed to the premises on the 27th, where the air was filled with a mix of somber reflection and the celebration of a life well lived. Otunba Ganiu Yinka Owode, known for his impactful roles in various organizations, held titles such as the national vice chairman of the Ahmadiya movement of Nigeria, former ICAD chairman, and president of the Rotary Club of Ijebu Ife.

With 13 children and more than 20 grandchildren, Otunba Owode’s legacy extended beyond his professional accomplishments. Six of his children reside in diaspora, representing the global reach of his influence. The gathering of family and friends served as a testament to the profound impact he had on their lives.

Honorable Owode extended his appreciation to the Owode family, his siblings, Ajalorun and chiefs,Otunba Akin Doherty and wife,Otunba J S Otunba and wife, OGHA members, Bobagunwa Akile Ijebu members and Chiefs, ICAD members, JOGS 98 set, Club 25, friends and associates, New dawn, FUNAAB mates, his executives, coordinators, babes, party leaders, and the general public for gracing the occasion. The diverse array of attendees highlighted the widespread respect and admiration for Otunba Ganiu Yinka Owode.

As the sun set on this remembrance day, it was evident that Otunba Ganiu Yinka Owode’s legacy will continue to live on in the hearts and minds of those he touched. The celebration of his life was a fitting tribute to a man whose contributions will be remembered for years to come.
