House of Representatives Restricts Journalists from Covering Bobrisky and EFCC Investigation

The House of Representatives has officially barred journalists from covering the ongoing investigation into the N15 million corruption allegations involving the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS) in connection with the prosecution of Nigerian social media personality Bobrisky.

Initially, the House invited members of the press to observe and report on the inquiry conducted by its Joint Committees on Financial Crimes and Reformatory Services. However, in a sudden move, the House press corps was notified that media coverage of the proceedings would no longer be allowed. This decision has raised questions about transparency, as the investigation addresses serious accusations of misconduct and financial irregularities involving the EFCC and NCS.

The investigation itself focuses on corruption claims that Bobrisky allegedly paid N15 million to secure favorable treatment during his sentencing for money laundering charges, including his alleged placement in a private apartment instead of prison.

With media access now restricted, the public will have to rely on official updates and briefings from the House of Representatives for information on the progress and outcomes of the investigation.
