House Sports C’tee Hails Super Eagles Victory, Urges Them To Avoid Complacency
Abuja, Nigeria — January 6, 2025
The House of Representatives Committee on Sports has urged the Super Eagles to remain focused and avoid complacency as they prepare for their quarterfinal match at the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Kabiru Amadu, made the call in a statement on Tuesday while applauding Nigeria’s emphatic 4–0 victory over Mozambique in Monday’s Round of 16 encounter. He stressed the importance of maintaining discipline and concentration as the tournament enters its decisive stages, noting that early success must not distract the team from its ultimate objective of lifting the trophy.
Hon. Amadu commended the Super Eagles players and the technical crew for their composure, tactical discipline, and collective strength, which have seen goals coming from all departments of the team so far in the competition.
According to him, the team’s all-round performance reflects effective preparation, unity, and a winning mentality that must be sustained through the remaining matches.
The Committee also reaffirmed the unwavering support of the National Assembly and the Federal Government for the Super Eagles as they continue their quest for continental glory, expressing confidence that the team has the quality and determination to go all the way in the tournament.
The House Sports Committee urged the players to remain injury-free, stay mentally strong, and approach each game with the same hunger and commitment displayed in their victory over Mozambique.
