How To Enjoy Your Own Company
Staying home alone may be a not-so-pleasant experience. As social beings, humans are wired to be around people. From day to day, all our activities often involve interaction with other people, even recreational activities.
Having time alone may not necessarily be loneliness. Sometimes, we need to backtrack to recharge, heal or simply meditate. If we don’t learn to enjoy ourselves, who then will?

Why should I enjoy my own company?
Emotional dependency happens when you’re so attached to someone that you possibly couldn’t imagine yourself without them. While this is beautifully portrayed in books and movies romantically, it may be a very dangerous way to live, especially in a world where nothing is predictable.

The epidemic of Corona Virus in 2020 that resulted in a worldwide lockdown for months separated friends, families and lovers. In times like this, you need to learn to associate with yourself to stay sane.
Spending time alone also promotes meditation and self- reflection. It is advisable and important to keep a journal and meditate on your actions and reactions. Some brilliant ideas do not drop when you’re in a club on a Friday night screaming the lyrics of your favourite song. Being in your own space does that. You could analyze your plans for the future and measure your progress so far. It is also therapeutic— planning for tomorrow and ticking off things you’ve accomplished.

How to enjoy your own company and what to do when you’re alone.
As can not be said enough, most people do not know what to do with themselves when they’re alone.
Here are some ways to hang out with yourself:
Rearrange your space.

If you’re stuck at home, try rearranging your space. If possible, get a plant/flower vase, a cheap painting, new curtains or throw pillows, anything that makes change visible in your home.

Get new lightings. You could invest in scented candles for your bedroom and bathroom. Impress yourself.

Go shopping!

If you can go out, go shopping. You do not necessarily have to splurge on the most expensive things. You could fill the pantry or get new dresses for yourself.
Do your skincare or go to the spa.

Here is a good time to do your skincare without rushing. Let those products sink in nice and good, and avoid the sun. You could go to the spa instead and have a nice day of massage and pampering.
Cook a wholesome meal.

Put the groceries you bought to good use. Give yourself a treat with a healthy meal. Try out new recipes or just make your favourite food.
Go for a run or go to the gym.

Workout is always a profitable way to spend your time. If you make this a habit, you’ll be better for it in the long run.
Learn how to play board games.

This could be the time you need to learn chess, monopoly and scrabble. Yes, you can do it alone.
Apply for online courses.

This will look good on your CV, so why not?
