IGP Disu Visits Maiduguri Attack Victims, Assesses Bombing Sites

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has visited victims of the recent improvised explosive device (IED) explosions receiving treatment at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH), as part of efforts to assess the situation and reassure affected communities.
During his visit to Maiduguri, the IGP also proceeded to the Monday Market bombing site for an on-the-spot evaluation of the incident. The visit formed part of a broader engagement aimed at strengthening security coordination and response strategies in the state.
The police chief further visited the Borno State Government House and the State Police Command Headquarters, where he held discussions with key stakeholders to review existing security measures and enhance collaborative efforts in tackling emerging threats.
While commiserating with victims and families affected by the tragic incidents, the IGP reassured residents of the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to dismantling all criminal networks responsible for the attacks and preventing any recurrence.
He emphasized that security across Maiduguri and its environs has been significantly reinforced, with increased personnel deployment, heightened surveillance, and strengthened joint operational measures.
The IGP reiterated that these proactive steps are aimed at safeguarding lives and property, restoring public confidence, and ensuring lasting peace in the region.
