IGP Egbetokun Orders Tactical Teams to Kaiama; Track Down Perpetrators

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has ordered the immediate deployment of tactical, operational, and intelligence assets to Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State following a brutal attack that occurred on Tuesday, February 3, 2026.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the IGP strongly condemned the violence, describing it as a senseless act that threatens peace and security. He expressed deep condolences to the families of the victims and extended sympathies to the government and people of Kwara State over the tragic incident.

IGP Egbetokun reassured Nigerians that the Nigeria Police Force remains firmly committed to the protection of lives and property and will not relent in its duty to ensure the safety of citizens across the country.

In response to the attack, security presence has been significantly reinforced in Kaiama and neighbouring communities to restore calm and prevent further breakdown of law and order. Tactical units and intelligence operatives have been directed to work round the clock to identify and neutralize those responsible.

The Police have also launched a full-scale manhunt for the perpetrators, vowing that all individuals involved in the attack will be tracked down and brought to justice in accordance with the law.
Meanwhile, residents of the affected areas have been urged to remain calm and law-abiding, and to cooperate fully with security agencies by providing credible and timely information through the nearest police station or other approved channels. Authorities emphasized that community cooperation is critical to the success of ongoing security operations.
