IGP Olatunji Disu Appoints DCP Anthony Okon Placid as Force PRO

The Nigeria Police Force has appointed Deputy Commissioner of Police, Anthony Okon Placid, as its new Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), following the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu.
DCP Placid, a seasoned officer with extensive experience in operations, intelligence, training, and international peacekeeping, will now oversee the strategic management of the Force’s communications and public image.
Born in Uyo, Placid holds degrees from University of Uyo, University of Jos, and the National Open University of Nigeria. He joined the police as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police in 1996 at the Nigeria Police Academy, Kano, and was commissioned in 1998.
Throughout his career, DCP Placid has served in numerous strategic roles both within Nigeria and internationally, including assignments with the African Union and the United Nations.
He is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police and a graduate of the Senior Executive Course at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru.
The appointment reinforces the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to effective communication and engagement with the public, ensuring transparency and professionalism in its operations.
