IGP Reaffirms Crime-Fighting Vision at Senior Officers’ Elevation

Abuja, December 23, 2025

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has reaffirmed its commitment to professionalism, service excellence, and people-centred policing at a senior officers’ elevation ceremony, underscoring the Force’s vision and mission in safeguarding lives and property across the country.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, emphasized that career advancement within the NPF is a deliberate, transparent, and merit-based process. He noted that promotions are anchored on integrity, leadership capacity, and proven service, rather than being treated as routine administrative exercises.

According to the IGP, the elevation of senior officers reflects the Force’s resolve to build a leadership cadre capable of addressing contemporary security challenges through professionalism, intelligence-led policing, and strong community engagement. He urged the newly elevated officers to see their advancement as a renewed call to duty, demanding higher standards of discipline, accountability, and ethical conduct.

Egbetokun reiterated the NPF’s crime-fighting vision, which prioritizes proactive policing, respect for human rights, and collaboration with citizens and other security stakeholders. He stressed that people-centred policing remains central to restoring public trust and enhancing operational effectiveness nationwide.

The IGP further charged the officers to mentor younger personnel, uphold the core values of the Force, and contribute meaningfully to ongoing reforms aimed at strengthening institutional capacity and service delivery.
The ceremony concluded with a call for unity of purpose within the NPF, as the leadership reaffirmed its determination to build a modern, professional police force capable of meeting Nigeria’s evolving security needs.
