Ijebu East PDP Inaugurates Hon. Juwon Lawal as Chairman, Unveils Candidates for Upcoming Elections

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ijebu East Local Government has inaugurated Hon. Juwon Lawal as the new party chairman in a ceremony held on August 17th, 2024. This pivotal event also served as the official flag-off for the campaign season ahead of the upcoming local government and ward elections.

Hon Akeem Adeniran

Following the party’s internal elections, Hon. Akeem Oludare Adeniran emerged as the PDP’s candidate for the chairmanship of Ijebu East Local Government, with Hon. Sulaiman Sanusi selected as his vice-chairmanship running mate.

New PDP Chairman and Excos

In addition to the chairmanship and vice-chairmanship candidates, the PDP also announced its ward councilorship candidates, marking the beginning of a robust campaign effort across all 11 wards in the local government. The councillorship candidates include:

  • Hon. Prince Adegbesan Adeyinka (Imobi Ward 10)
  • Hon. Soga Opeoluwa (Imushin Ward 2)
  • Hon. Adeleke Musa Opeyemi (Itele Ward 7)
  • Hon. Engr. Adebayo Akeem (Ife Ward 4)
  • Hon. Adeniyi Wasiu Odewole (Imobi Ward 9)
  • Hon. Baiye Olanrewaju (Imushin Ward 1)
  • Hon. Adigun Adekunle Moshood (Ajebandele Ward 11)
  • Hon. Adeleke Steven (Ikija Ward 6)
  • Hon. Oyenusi Shakiru Segun (Ife Ward 3)
  • Hon. Shakiru (Owu Ward 5)
  • Hon. Bashiru Nosiru (Ogbere Ward 8)

The PDP’s newly elected leaders expressed confidence in their candidates, noting that they are well-prepared to serve the people and bring development to Ijebu East. Hon. Juwon Lawal highlighted the importance of unity and grassroots mobilization as key to ensuring victory in the upcoming polls.

Hon. Akeem Adeniran, the chairmanship candidate, reaffirmed his commitment to transparent governance and improving the welfare of the people of Ijebu East, while emphasizing the party’s vision of progress and prosperity for the local government area.

The event was seen as a crucial step for the PDP as it ramps up efforts to secure victories in the forthcoming local government and ward elections, which are expected to be keenly contested across Ogun State.
