Ijebu Security Stakeholders Meet After Statewide Review Led by Governor Dapo Abiodun CON

The Honourable Commissioner for Finance and Chief Economic Adviser, Hon. Otunba OlaDapo AbdulRahman Okubadejo held an emergency Security Meeting with all the Ijebu Divisional Security Heads and Community Stakeholders, following the security meeting held with the Service Chiefs by His Excellency, Prince Dr Dapo Abiodun CON, Governor, Ogun State and due to some recent security breaches in Ijebuland, on Monday 24th November, 2025.

The meeting was called by the Honourable Commissioner for Finance and Chief Economic Adviser, Hon Otunba Dapo Okubadejo, in line with the Governor’s directive for tighter security coordination across all zones of the state. The meeting examined recent security breaches and stressed the need for closer collaboration, improved intelligence sharing, and stronger community support for security agencies working to protect lives and property.

Hon Okubadejo reaffirmed the commitment of the state government to maintaining peace and protection of lives and properties across the Ijebu axis, noting that coordinated action between security formations and community stakeholders remains essential. The development aligns with Governor Abiodun’s earlier statements after his engagement with service chiefs, where he emphasized the importance of proactive planning and reinforced preparedness.

In a message shared on the Governor’s official social media pages, the Governor said the state must “anticipate challenges before they arise,” adding that Ogun remains one of the most peaceful states in Nigeria and must continue to safeguard that reputation through constant assessment and improved readiness.

He noted that although similar sessions had been held in the past, the latest meeting was especially important due to its urgency and relevance to current security dynamics and those at the Ijebu session were the Police Area Commander for Ijebu-Ode, Divisional Police Officers from all Ijebu Local Government Areas, senior officers from Sappers Barracks Ilese, the State Intelligence Director and Ijebu DSS Director, the State Deputy Commander and Ijebu Commander of Amotekun, Commanders of Civil Defence and So-Safe Corps, as well as the Chief Imam, CAN Chairman, Market leaders, and the Ijebu-Ode Local Government House Leader.

This security meetings reflect the state’s renewed focus on vigilance, collaboration, and protection of communities and investors across all divisions, including Ijebu-Ode.
