Voting is ongoing in parts of Kano State as the conducts the State Assembly by-election.
The exercise is taking place in the Kano Municipal and Ungogo constituencies to fill two vacant seats in the following the death of the former lawmakers.
Election materials were reportedly distributed early in several polling units, with officials arriving on schedule to commence accreditation and voting. Security personnel were also deployed to strategic locations to ensure a smooth process and prevent disruptions.
Although turnout remains low as of this morning, the exercise has been largely peaceful. Observers note that electoral officers are adhering to established guidelines, while voters are being attended to in an orderly manner.
Residents expressed cautious optimism that the by-election would be conducted transparently and reflect the will of the people. The by-election is expected to conclude later in the day, with results to be announced by the electoral commission after collation.
