Kano Police Command Arrests Five Suspected Kidnappers, Cattle Rustlers in Intelligence-Led Operations

The Kano State Police Command has recorded major breakthroughs in its ongoing fight against kidnapping and cattle rustling with the arrest of five suspected criminals during intelligence-led operations across Kiru and Tsanyawa Local Government Areas of the state.
According to a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the arrests were carried out by operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad and other tactical units, acting on credible intelligence and under the directive of the Commissioner of Police.
The statement disclosed that police operatives attached to the Anti-Kidnapping Squad cordoned off Rahma Round in Kiru Local Government Area, where four suspects were apprehended. Among those arrested is Shafiu Ibrahim, a 25-year-old resident of Auchanawa Village, Ikara Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
During interrogation, Shafiu reportedly confessed to being a member of a kidnapping gang and to his involvement in several cases of cattle rustling within and around Kano State. A TVS motorcycle was recovered from him. The other three suspects arrested at the location are currently under investigation for various other criminal offences.
In a related operation, a joint team comprising operatives from the Dragon Unit, Anti-Kidnapping Squad, and Tsanyawa Police Division arrested another suspect, Bishir Umar, aged 24, of Karaduwa Local Government Area, Katsina State. He was arrested at Mahuta Village in Tsanyawa Local Government Area of Kano State.
Police investigations revealed that Bishir confessed that he and his accomplices had entered Kano State on two motorcycles, armed with a rifle, with the intent to carry out criminal activities. He was apprehended while conducting surveillance, while his accomplices reportedly escaped with the motorcycles and the rifle.
The Police Command assured the public that all suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations. The Command further reiterated its commitment to sustaining intelligence-driven operations to rid Kano State of criminal elements and ensure the safety and security of residents.
