
Kano State Government Accuses Governor Ganduje of Corruption Allegations
The Kano State Government has leveled serious accusations against Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, alleging that he accepted a $200,000 bribe from a contractor. The accusations were brought forward in an eight-count charge filed by the state government, alleging violations of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission Law 2008.

The defendants in the case include Governor Ganduje himself, along with Hafsat Umar (his spouse), Abubakar Bawuro, Umar Abdullahi Umar, Jibrilla Muhammad, Lamash Properties Limited, Safari Textiles Limited, and Lesaga General Enterprises.
According to the state government, Governor Ganduje is accused of receiving a $210,000 kickback from individuals and entities involved in Kano State Government contracts. The alleged kickback was related to the remodelling of Kantin Kwari textile market.
One of the charges specifically accuses Governor Ganduje, his spouse, and others of conspiring to convert the sum of N1.376 billion through a company account belonging to Safari Textile Ltd. The funds were reportedly earmarked for the purchase and supply of face masks and other hospital equipment for the health sector. This alleged action has been described as causing wrongful loss to the people and government of Kano State.
The accusations against Governor Ganduje come amidst growing concerns over corruption in the state and raise questions about transparency and accountability within the government.
