Katsina, Nigeria – In a significant development, the Executive Governor of Katsina State, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, PhD, CON, has formally requested the Federal Government to transfer the management of the abandoned Lambar Rimi Wind Power Project to the Katsina State Government. This request was made through a letter addressed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Minister of Power.

Governor Radda’s appeal aims to revive the stalled project, which has the potential to significantly enhance the state’s power generation capacity. The Lambar Rimi Wind Power Project, which has been in a state of neglect, could see renewed activity and progress under the state government’s stewardship.

In his letter, Governor Radda emphasized the strategic importance of the project for Katsina State, highlighting its potential to improve electricity supply and contribute to the overall development of the region. The move signals a proactive approach by the state government to harness renewable energy resources and address power shortages.
Governor Radda expressed confidence that with adequate support and resources, the Katsina State Government could successfully complete and operationalize the wind power project. He also assured that the state is prepared to take on the responsibility of managing and maintaining the facility to ensure its sustainability and efficiency.
This request comes at a time when the Federal Government is focusing on energy diversification and improving power infrastructure across the country. If granted, the handover could mark a new phase of development for the Lambar Rimi Wind Power Project and set a precedent for state-led initiatives in renewable energy.
As the nation awaits the Federal Government’s response, stakeholders and residents of Katsina State are hopeful that this initiative will lead to substantial progress in the state’s energy sector, providing a reliable power supply and fostering economic growth.
