Kogi Youths Declare Solidarity with Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, Condemn Senate Suspension

Youths in Kogi State have expressed strong support for Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the Senator representing Kogi Central, following her recent suspension by the 10th Senate. In a statement issued on Sunday, the youths described the suspension as “crude and peremptory,” warning that the Senate is heading in the wrong direction under the leadership of Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
The statement, released by the Chairman of the Kogi Central Youth Movement, Alhaji Mustapha Jato, in Abuja, called on Senator Akpabio to uphold the dignity of his office and urged his supporters not to tarnish the reputation of the country. The youths also commended Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan for standing firm in her principles and refusing to compromise her sense of decency, marital status, and political integrity.
“Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan is a woman of charm and faith. She is hardworking, energetic, and deeply respected by the people because of her genuine interest in their progress,” the statement read. The youths praised her initiatives, thoroughness, and seriousness of purpose, emphasizing her positive impact on the people of Kogi Central and Nigeria at large.
The statement also took aim at critics of Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, particularly former aide to Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, Mr. Reno Omokri, and his allies, accusing them of deviating from the truth. “Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan is an upright woman,” the youths declared, dismissing the campaign of calumny against her as the work of “lily-livered politicians” seeking to cause disaffection in the country.
The youths applauded Nigerians who have spoken out in support of Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan and condemned her suspension as an absurd action. They called on political office holders across the country to maintain high standards of behavior, character, and morality, urging them to rise above petty politics and focus on the welfare of the people.
The statement also cautioned against the influence of “hired hoodlums, sly, and shifty individuals” who may be misleading Senator Akpabio in the ongoing feud with Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan. It emphasized the importance of truth, justice, poise, and endurance in resolving the matter, while denouncing behaviors such as philandering, trivialization of allegations, back-biting, and breaking of ranks.
The Kogi Central Youth Movement’s statement reflects the growing discontent among constituents and supporters of Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, who view her suspension as unjust and politically motivated. The youths’ vocal support underscores her popularity and the trust she has earned through her dedication to the people of Kogi Central.
As the controversy continues to unfold, the youths have called for a resolution that prioritizes fairness and the interests of the people. They urged all parties involved to act with integrity and to avoid actions that could further polarize the political landscape.
This development highlights the broader challenges facing Nigeria’s political system, including the need for greater accountability, transparency, and respect for democratic principles. The solidarity shown by Kogi youths serves as a reminder of the critical role that citizens play in holding their leaders accountable and advocating for justice and equity in governance.
