Kwara Governor Introduces Free Bus Service to Ease Transportation Amid Rising Fuel Prices

Ilorin, Kwara State – In response to the recent surge in fuel prices, Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has directed the immediate deployment of free buses across various parts of the state capital to ease the transportation burden on commuters.

Announcing the initiative on Thursday, the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, stated that the free bus service is part of the government’s efforts to mitigate the economic impact of the fuel price hike on residents.

“The buses are to take people to the most central destinations free of charge,” Ajakaye explained. He added that the initiative is especially aimed at assisting individuals attending the ongoing job placement interviews organized by the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), providing them with a more affordable and convenient means of transportation.

The government is also reportedly assessing the broader public transportation situation to ensure that residents’ needs are met, with public welfare remaining a top priority.

“We understand the inconveniences caused by the current situation and are confident that things will improve soon,” the governor stated, expressing his commitment to easing the economic pressures on the people of Kwara State.

The introduction of the free bus service is expected to provide much-needed relief to commuters, especially in the state capital, Ilorin, where fuel prices have significantly impacted daily transportation costs.
