Maiduguri, Borno State — December 11, 2025
The Minister of Education, Maruf Tunji Alausa, has inaugurated three new public basic and secondary schools in Maiduguri, further advancing the Federal Government’s commitment to expanding access to quality education across the country.
The newly commissioned institutions include a nursery and primary boarding school, a rehabilitated secondary school that was severely affected by the 2024 flood disaster, and two newly constructed government day secondary schools located in Maiduguri Metropolitan Council (MMC), Jere, and Bayo Local Government Areas of Borno State.
Speaking during the inauguration, the Minister highlighted the significance of the new schools in improving educational access for children in communities recovering from insecurity and environmental setbacks. To further strengthen digital education, the Borno State Government has equipped the schools with an extensive array of smart learning tools, including 5,230 desktop computers, 2,760 tablets, 131 projector screens, 600 projectors, 3D pens, and a solar-powered energy system to ensure uninterrupted power supply.
The provision of these facilities is expected to transform teaching and learning environments, promote digital literacy, and empower students with the tools needed to thrive in an increasingly technology-driven world.
The inauguration represents a major milestone in the ongoing educational revitalization efforts in Borno State, offering renewed hope and expanded opportunities to learners across the region.
