MINISTER OF STATE DEFENCE VISITS OPERATION FANSAR YAMMA HEADQUARTERS

Gusau, Zamfara State — 16th November,  2025

The Minister of State for Defence, Bello Muhammad Matawalle, has applauded the troops of Operation Fansar Yamma for their unwavering dedication, courage, and sacrifice in the ongoing fight against criminal elements across the North West theatre.

Matawalle gave the commendation during an operational visit to the Theatre Command Headquarters in Gusau, Zamfara State, where he met with commanders, frontline officers, and personnel actively involved in the operation.
Addressing the troops, the Minister encouraged them to remain resilient, vigilant, and focused, noting that their efforts continue to play a crucial role in restoring lasting peace and stability in the region. He assured them that the Federal Government remains firmly committed to supporting their mission.

Matawalle reiterated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration’s resolve to provide additional resources, logistics, and enhanced welfare packages to sustain and strengthen the operational momentum. He praised the strategic coordination and effective leadership displayed by the Theatre Command, describing it as central to the successes recorded so far.

In his remarks, the Theatre Commander, Major General Warrah Bello Idris, expressed gratitude for the Minister’s visit, emphasizing that it reaffirms the government’s unwavering commitment to the ongoing counter-criminality efforts in the North West. He noted that the troops remain motivated and determined to achieve greater operational breakthroughs.
The visit ended with renewed assurance from the Defence Ministry that the fight to restore peace across the region will continue with heightened synergy among all security agencies.
