N4.6 Billion Traced to Bafarawa’s Son in ONSA Arms Deal Trial
In a courtroom revelation that sent shockwaves through the legal proceedings, a witness in the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) arms deal trial has disclosed that a staggering sum of N4.633 billion has been traced to the account of Dalhatu Investment Limited, with connections to the son of former Sokoto State governor, Attahiru Bafarawa.

During the trial involving Attahiru Bafarawa and four others, the Second Prosecution Witness (PW2), Hamza Abdullahi, made the revelation before Justice Y. Halilu of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court. PW2 disclosed that the massive sum of N4.633 billion was identified as flowing into the account of Dalhatu Investment Limited, which had links to Sagir Attahiru Bafarawa, the son of the former governor, and another individual identified only as Nasir, who held directorial positions in the company.
Adding to the intrigue, Sagir Attahiru Bafarawa was revealed as the sole authorized signatory for Dalhatu Investment Limited’s bank account.
The witness stated, “From the report we received from ONSA, when we scrutinized the report, we traced the sum of N 4.633 billion paid to Dalhatu Investment Limited Account, domiciled in United Bank of Africa (UBA), with Sagir Attahiru Bafarawa as the sole signatory of the account.”
He further explained, “My Lord, I witnessed the statement dated 25/11/2015 of Sagir Attahiru Bafarawa. He was interviewed in my presence, the statement was also recorded in my presence. At the conclusion of the written statement, I read it to him. Thereafter, I endorsed the written statement. I equally endorsed the second statement at 4 pm, and it was concluded by 4:25 pm, the same day. I witnessed it, my name and signature were there.”
The disclosure sheds new light on the ongoing trial, raising questions about the alleged involvement of prominent figures in the misappropriation of funds meant for national security. As the trial progresses, Nigerians await further revelations and expect accountability for any wrongdoing uncovered.
The trial underscores the government’s commitment to combating corruption and ensuring transparency in public office, as justice is sought for the mismanagement of public funds.
