The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has reinforced its commitment to gender inclusion as a driver of operational effectiveness through its participation at the 70th Session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW70), held from March 9–19, 2026, at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

Represented by Flight Lieutenant Victory Tombari Gbaraba, the Service joined global leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders in advancing practical solutions aimed at promoting gender equality and strengthening institutional resilience.

The session, which brought together representatives from 109 member states, over 80 ministers, and thousands of civil society actors, focused on enhancing access to justice for women and girls through inclusive and equitable legal systems. Discussions highlighted the importance of eliminating discriminatory laws, addressing structural barriers, and promoting fairness as key elements for sustainable development and societal progress.

In line with the command philosophy of the Chief of the Air Staff, Sunday Kelvin Aneke, the NAF continues to institutionalise gender inclusion across its operations by integrating female personnel into various specialties and leadership positions.

Through targeted capacity development, mentorship, and expanded opportunities, the Nigerian Air Force is building a more inclusive, professional, and mission-ready force. This approach positions the Service to effectively respond to evolving security challenges while upholding its mandate to protect the nation.
