NCCSALW Applauds 6 Brigade’s Operational Achievements in Taraba During North East Zonal Director’s Visit
Jalingo, Taraba State – 3 October 2025
The North East Zonal Director of the National Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons (NCCSALW), Major General Abubakar Adamu (Rtd), has commended the impressive operational achievements of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke in Taraba State during a courtesy visit to the Brigade Headquarters in Jalingo on 3 October 2025.
Major General Abubakar Adamu (Rtd) expressed his appreciation for the warm reception given to him and his team by the Brigade personnel. He praised the Brigade’s success in tackling insecurity within Taraba State by employing a combination of kinetic and non-kinetic strategies. The Zonal Director emphasized that his visit was part of a broader sensitization tour aimed at introducing the NCCSALW’s mandate, which focuses on curbing the proliferation of small arms and light weapons across the North East region.
Highlighting the Centre’s commitment, Major General Abubakar Adamu (Rtd) assured continued collaboration with security agencies through intelligence sharing, sensitization programs, and community engagement initiatives. He stressed that these efforts are crucial to combating the illicit arms trade, which fuels insecurity in the region.
In response, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke, expressed gratitude to the Zonal Director and his team for their visit. He reiterated the Brigade’s commitment to working closely with NCCSALW, underscoring the importance of a unified approach in tackling the illegal proliferation of arms. Brigadier General Uwa also emphasized the vital role that local communities play in maintaining vigilance and promptly reporting suspicious activities. He noted that reducing the circulation of illicit arms is key to enhancing security, peace, and socio-economic development within Taraba State and the wider region.
The visit concluded on a high note with an exchange of souvenirs and group photographs, commemorating the collaborative spirit between NCCSALW and 6 Brigade.
