NELFUND Clarifies Delay in August Stipend Disbursement
The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has issued a statement addressing the delay in the disbursement of the August stipends to students. In a press release dated September 12, 2024, NELFUND attributed the delay to ongoing payment processing, which includes conducting essential security checks to protect public funds.

Mrs. Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, Director of Corporate Communications at NELFUND, emphasized that these security measures are crucial to ensuring that funds are properly allocated to the correct beneficiaries. While acknowledging the inconvenience caused by the delay, she reiterated the importance of transparency and accountability in the student loan program.
“We ask for your patience and understanding during this period, as we strive to finalize the disbursement with the same level of diligence that has defined our operations thus far,” the statement read.
NELFUND assured students that the disbursements are being processed as swiftly as possible and reiterated its commitment to supporting higher education access across Nigeria. The organization also expressed appreciation for the feedback received from students and recognized their active involvement in monitoring the progress of the stipend payments.
The press release reaffirmed NELFUND’s dedication to empowering students and continuing its efforts to enhance educational opportunities throughout the country.
