On the occasion of Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary, the Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, OON, has extended heartfelt congratulations to Nigerians both at home and in the Diaspora.
In his celebratory message, Ambassador Tuggar reflected on Nigeria’s 65 years of nationhood as a testament to the courage, resilience, and unity of its people. He acknowledged the nation’s journey marked by overcoming numerous challenges and harnessing opportunities that have spurred progress across all sectors.

Ambassador Tuggar emphasized Nigeria’s continued advancement in consolidating its democracy, driving economic growth, and enhancing its leadership role within Africa and on the global stage. Central to these achievements, he noted, is the country’s foreign policy framework, firmly rooted in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and guided by the four pillars known as the 4Ds: Democracy, Development, Demography, and Diaspora.

“As we celebrate this milestone,” the Minister stated, “we honour the sacrifices of our founding fathers and reaffirm our commitment to protecting Nigeria’s sovereignty, promoting regional stability, and engaging the world with dignity and purpose. Let us remain united in building a Nigeria that delivers peace, progress, and prosperity for all.”
Ambassador Tuggar also called on Nigerians worldwide to uphold values of patriotism, service, and unity. He assured that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs remains dedicated to projecting Nigeria’s interests and positive image across the globe. Moreover, he encouraged Nigerians in the Diaspora to continue being exemplary ambassadors of the nation, contributing to its development wherever they reside.

As Nigeria commemorates this significant milestone, the words of the Minister resonate as a clarion call for unity and continued progress toward a brighter future for all Nigerians.
