NIGERIA CONGRATULATES THE REPUBLIC OF GUINEA-BISSAU ON HER 52ND INDEPENDENCE ANNIVERSARY

Nigeria has extended heartfelt congratulations to the Republic of Guinea-Bissau on the occasion of her 52nd Independence Anniversary, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening bilateral ties between the two West African nations.
In a congratulatory message conveyed by Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, to his Bissau-Guinean counterpart, Carlos Pinto Pereira, the Federal Republic of Nigeria praised the enduring relationship between the two countries. Minister Tuggar emphasized that the ties have been marked by fruitful cooperation in areas such as trade and investment, security, cultural exchange, and regional peacekeeping.
“Nigeria values its longstanding friendship with the Republic of Guinea-Bissau,” the statement read. “As we celebrate this important milestone in your nation’s history, we express our readiness to deepen diplomatic engagement and mutual collaboration for the benefit of our peoples.”
The Foreign Minister also highlighted the importance of continued partnership within multilateral frameworks such as the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), the African Union (AU), and the United Nations (UN), noting that such collaboration is vital in promoting regional security, economic prosperity, and sustainable development.
As Guinea-Bissau marks more than five decades of independence, Nigeria reiterated its support for the country’s democratic journey and socio-economic advancement, pledging to work hand-in-hand toward a more stable and prosperous West Africa.
