March 31, 2026, Yobe State, Nigeria

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Yobe State Command, has joined other commands and key stakeholders across the country to launch a nationwide sensitisation campaign on the Validated National Migration Policy 2025. The initiative is themed “Enhancing Awareness for Effective Migration Management and Border Governance.”

The newly introduced policy serves as an update to the 2015 framework, addressing identified gaps while incorporating improvements rooted in evidence-based decision-making and global best practices in migration governance.

Key focus areas of the policy include strengthening institutional coordination, enhancing migrant protection, promoting safe and regular migration pathways, supporting sustainable reintegration of migrants, ensuring inclusivity, and addressing the growing challenges of climate-induced mobility.

According to a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, MA Yerima, the sensitisation programme was directed by the Comptroller General of the NIS, Kemi Nanna Nandap, and represented at the event by Deputy Comptroller of Immigration, Aminu Abubakar. The initiative aims to enhance awareness among stakeholders and ensure the effective implementation of the policy nationwide.

The Nigeria Immigration Service reaffirmed its commitment to efficient migration management, strengthened border security, and the promotion of national development through coordinated and forward-looking migration policies.
