Nigeria Police Force Pays Tribute to DIG Parry Osayande (Rtd.)

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has solemnly announced the passing of the retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Parry Benjamin Osemwegie Osayande, who died in Benin City on September 28, 2025, just a day before his 89th birthday.


In a statement issued by the Force, DIG Osayande’s distinguished career was highlighted, noting his service as Commissioner of Police across multiple states and his tenure as Deputy Inspector-General of Police. He also notably served as Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC) from 2008 to 2013 and led several key presidential committees focused on police reform.
Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, extended heartfelt condolences on behalf of the entire Nigeria Police Force to the family of the late DIG Osayande, the PSC, and all his associates. He praised Osayande’s enduring legacy of professionalism, dedication, and commitment to the security and well-being of Nigeria.


The Nigeria Police Force prayed for the peaceful repose of the retired officer’s soul and stated that funeral arrangements will be communicated by the family in due course.
DIG Parry Osayande’s contributions have left an indelible mark on the nation’s policing and security framework, and his memory will continue to inspire generations within the Force.
