NIS, German Embassy Move to Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation

Abuja, Nigeria — November 21, 2025

The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), KN Nandap, pcc, mmis, fsmn, on Thursday received the German Ambassador to Nigeria, Annett Günther, at the Service Headquarters in Abuja. The Ambassador was accompanied by the First Secretary of the German Embassy, Mr. Markus Sasse, during the high-level visit aimed at reinforcing bilateral cooperation on migration and border governance.


In her remarks, Ambassador Günther commended the NIS for its continued collaboration with Germany, particularly in areas of migration management, security cooperation, and other shared responsibilities. She emphasized the importance of strengthening the existing partnership under the current Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), especially in the crucial area of Migrant Identification and Management.
The Ambassador further praised the NIS for its ongoing transformation agenda, highlighting recent technology-driven advancements such as the e-Visa system, which she described as significant progress toward efficient and modern migration administration.


Responding, CGI Nandap expressed appreciation for the Ambassador’s visit and reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to advancing collaborations with the German Embassy, particularly in migrant identification and enhanced border processes. She also extended gratitude for the warm reception she received during her recent working visit to Germany, where she participated in an advanced Border Security and Governance tour.
The NIS reiterated its resolve to deepen bilateral relations with Germany and enhance cooperation in capacity development, border governance, and migration management, in line with global best practices.
