NMDPRA Strengthens Oversight with Operational Visit to Central Horizon Gas Company

Port Harcourt, Rivers State – 26/01/2026

The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has intensified its regulatory oversight of critical gas infrastructure with an operational visit to Central Horizon Gas Company Limited (CHGC) in Port Harcourt.
The visit was led by the Authority Chief Executive of NMDPRA, Engr. Saidu Mohammed, as part of ongoing efforts to ensure safety, compliance, and operational efficiency across Nigeria’s midstream and downstream petroleum sector.

Central Horizon Gas Company Limited, a subsidiary of Axxela Limited, plays a key role in the supply of natural gas to industrial and commercial customers. Through its operations, CHGC supports the expansion of piped natural gas infrastructure, enhances energy access for businesses, and contributes to Nigeria’s transition toward cleaner and more sustainable energy solutions.

During the visit, Engr. Mohammed and his team assessed critical gas facilities and engaged with CHGC management on operational standards, regulatory compliance, and opportunities to further strengthen gas delivery to industrial clusters. The engagement underscores NMDPRA’s mandate to promote safe and reliable energy infrastructure while enabling investment and growth within the sector.

The operational visit reflects NMDPRA’s broader commitment to strengthening oversight, supporting industrial development, and advancing sustainable growth in Nigeria’s energy landscape, in line with national energy transition objectives.
