Maiduguri, Borno State – May 23, 2026

The North East Development Commission (NEDC) has donated modern digital broadcasting equipment to the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) as part of efforts to strengthen media operations and improve information dissemination across the North East region.

The donated equipment, described as state-of-the-art digital facilities, is expected to enhance the operational capacity of FRCN stations, improve broadcast quality and support effective service delivery to listeners within the region and beyond.

Speaking during the presentation ceremony, officials of the Commission said the intervention was aimed at supporting institutions that play vital roles in public communication and regional development.
The Commission noted that reliable and efficient broadcasting remains critical in promoting public awareness, peace building and socio-economic development, especially in communities recovering from the impact of insurgency and other challenges.

In a related development, the NEDC also presented luggage trolleys to the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) to improve passenger convenience and ease movement at airports within the North East.
According to the Commission, the donation forms part of its broader commitment to improving public infrastructure and enhancing the travel experience for air passengers across the region.

Officials of FAAN expressed appreciation for the gesture, stating that the luggage trolleys would assist in easing passenger movement and contribute to better service delivery at airport terminals.

The North East Development Commission reaffirmed its commitment to supporting critical institutions and providing interventions that would enhance development, improve public services and promote economic recovery in the region.
