
Northwest Governors Forge Partnerships at Nigerian Embassy in Washington, United States
A delegation of Northwest Governors, led by Katsina State Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, recently convened at the Nigerian Embassy in Washington, United States, alongside governors from Niger, Plateau, and Benue States in the North Central region. The meeting, hosted by Acting Ambassador of Nigeria to the United States, Mrs. Uzoma Emenike, aimed to foster partnerships and collaboration in key sectors to drive socio-economic development in the region.

The gathering attracted distinguished personalities including Mr. Gatete, Chairman of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), Ms. Damilola from Sustainable Energy for All, Ms. Ahunna from UNDP Regional Director for Africa, Mrs. Laura from the International Labour Organization (ILO), Mrs. Jocelyn Director from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), and Mr. Samaila Zubairu, President of Africa Finance Corporation.

Key areas of discussion included ICT connectivity, energy, food security, education for all, climate change, and financing. The governors emphasized the importance of collaboration in addressing regional challenges and promoting socio-economic growth. The Northwest Governors delegation received a special invitation from the esteemed Africa Centre at the United States Institute of Peace (USIP) to attend a significant peace and security summit scheduled to take place in Washington DC from April 23 to 25, 2024. This summit underscores the commitment of regional leaders to fostering peace, security, and prosperity in Nigeria and the broader African continent.
