Ogun State Set to Register Additional 100,000 Farmers Under OGFIMS
Abeokuta, Nigeria – The Ogun State Government has announced plans to register an additional 100,000 farmers under the Ogun State Farmer Information Management System (OGFIMS), raising the total number of registered farmers to 160,000.

Hon. Bolu Owotomo, Commissioner for Agriculture, disclosed this initiative during an OGFIMS workshop focused on the registration exercise for farmers and value chain actors at the Ogun State Economic Transformation Project (OGSTEP) training hall.
The workshop aimed to train 86 enumerators and supervisors to efficiently register and collect information on farmers, thereby enriching the state’s agricultural database.
Owotomo highlighted the significance of accurate registration, stating that it would assist the government in making informed decisions and provide farmers with opportunities to enhance their knowledge and capacities regarding best agricultural practices. “This initiative is expected to boost the state’s agricultural sector by providing a comprehensive database of farmers and value chain actors, thereby enhancing the state’s food security and economic growth,” he added.
Mrs. Mosunmola Owo-Odunsi, the State Coordinator of OGSTEP, explained that the workshop was designed to onboard and train enumerators to register farmers and value chain actors into the OGFIMS database.
Mr. Lava Kumar, the project consultant and team lead for OGFIMS, noted that the enumerators would play a crucial role in bringing more farmers onto the digital platform. This initiative aims to link farmers with stakeholders in the agricultural sector and serve as a comprehensive database and repository of information and knowledge for farmers in Ogun State.
