OPERATION WHIRL STROKE SUSTAIN OFFENSIVE OPERATIONS AGAINST ARMED SYNDICATE IN BENUE AXIS

Troops of the Joint Task Force have successfully dislodged a notorious terrorist syndicate operating in , recovering a significant cache of ammunition and logistics items during a decisive raid.

The troops, drawn from Sector 1 of Operation WHIRL STROKE, acted on credible and actionable intelligence concerning the activities of a notorious bandit leader. Intelligence reports revealed that the criminal kingpin and his associates were operating from a hideout at Mtan Village in Utange Council Ward of Katsina-Ala LGA.

Acting swiftly on the intelligence, the troops advanced to the identified location and made contact with the armed terrorists. A fierce exchange of gunfire ensued, during which the criminals were forced to abandon their enclave and flee into surrounding areas.
During the subsequent exploitation of the hideout, troops recovered two motorcycles believed to belong to the bandit leader, eight magazines, 162 rounds of 7.62 x 39mm special ammunition, 10 rounds of 7.62 x 54mm ammunition, 44 rounds of 9mm ammunition, links of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, and seven empty 7.62mm NATO cartridge casings. Additionally, a red Toyota vehicle discovered at the scene was demobilized to prevent its further use for criminal activities.
The Force Commander, Joint Task Force Operation WHIRL STROKE, , commended the intelligence team for their diligence and unwavering efforts in providing timely and actionable information that enabled the successful execution of the operation. He also praised the troops for their resilience, professionalism, and tactical dexterity in confronting criminal elements within the Benue axis.

Major General Gara reiterated the importance of sustained collaboration between security forces and local communities. He urged residents to continue providing credible information to security agencies, emphasizing that timely intelligence remains a critical factor in curbing terrorism, banditry, and other forms of criminality in the region.

The Joint Task Force reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining offensive operations aimed at restoring lasting peace and security across Benue State and its environs.
