The Ogun State Government has announced that over 1,500 individuals have benefited from the ongoing Free Surgery Intervention Programme as part of its commitment to providing accessible healthcare services to residents.

The disclosure was made during the flag-off of the sale of discounted rice to civil servants at the State Secretariat, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, underscoring the government’s proactive approach in addressing healthcare needs, particularly for pregnant women, the elderly, and vulnerable members of society.

In addition to the free surgeries, the government has launched several initiatives to support citizens during challenging times. Financial assistance has been extended to students across the state, with approximately 80,000 tertiary institution students receiving N50,000 each, and over 400,000 indigent primary and secondary school students benefiting from N10,000 payments alongside exercise books.

Acknowledging the impact of current economic inflation, the government has implemented measures to mitigate its effects, aiming to cushion the impact experienced by residents. These efforts align with the decisive steps taken by President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, to rejuvenate the economy and position the country for growth.
Despite challenges, the government urges residents not to lose hope, noting signs of economic improvement such as the appreciating value of the naira. Efforts are also underway to address food security concerns, with plans to provide food items at affordable prices in the near future.
Emphasizing its unwavering commitment to the welfare of Ogun State residents, the government reassures citizens of continued initiatives aimed at enhancing their lives and navigating through challenging times together.
