PDP Sets Up Caretaker Committee for South-South Zone

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has constituted a caretaker committee to manage the party’s activities in the South-South region of Nigeria. This follows the expiration of the tenure of the current Zonal Executive on Sunday, March 9, 2025.

In a statement issued in Abuja by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the PDP announced that the new committee will take over from Monday, March 10, 2025.

The party’s National Working Committee (NWC) approved the formation of the interim leadership to ensure continuity and smooth operations in the zone. The committee is expected to oversee the party’s affairs for three months or until a new executive is elected, as stipulated in the party’s constitution.

The caretaker committee consists of seven members, with **Emma Ogidi** as Chairman and **Chief Damiete Herbert-Miller** as Secretary.

“The caretaker committee is tasked with ensuring the smooth running of the party’s activities in the South-South zone and preparing for the election of a new zonal executive in line with the party’s constitution,” Ologunagba stated.

The PDP’s move underscores its commitment to maintaining stability and effective leadership within its ranks, particularly in the South-South region, which remains a stronghold for the party.
