Pi-CNG Announces 50% Cost Reduction for Converting Petrol-Powered Vehicles to CNG

The Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas (Pi-CNG) has announced a 50 percent reduction in the cost of converting petrol-powered vehicles to compressed natural gas (CNG). This move is part of the Federal Government’s efforts to promote a more cost-effective and sustainable transportation system across Nigeria.

Michael Oluwagbemi, the Programme Director, revealed this initiative as a step towards encouraging widespread adoption of CNG, which offers environmental and economic benefits over traditional petrol.

To support this transition, here are nine locations in Nigeria where motorists can convert their petrol-powered cars to CNG:

  1. NIPCO PLC: A major player in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry, NIPCO operates multiple CNG stations nationwide.
  2. Green Gas Nigeria: A leading provider of CNG conversion services, offering expertise in transforming petrol-powered vehicles.
  3. Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited: In collaboration with Pi-CNG, NNPC has established conversion centers across the country.
  4. Bovas: Partnered with the federal government to facilitate the conversion of vehicles to CNG.
  5. Axxela Limited: In agreement with NNPC, Axxela is set to deliver six CNG stations throughout Nigeria.
  6. Premier LPG Limited: Provides solutions for cleaner transportation, including CNG conversions.
  7. Rholuck Services Nigeria Limited: Specializes in alternative fuel solutions, with a focus on CNG conversions.
  8. Rolling Energy: Hosts a PCNGI conversion and refueling site in Ilorin, promoting the use of CNG.
  9. NASENI: The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure has inaugurated a CNG conversion, filling, reverse engineering, and training center in Abuja.

This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to reducing the nation’s carbon footprint and fostering sustainable development in the transportation sector. Motorists are encouraged to take advantage of these conversion centers to benefit from the reduced costs and long-term savings associated with CNG.
