Police Bust Cybercrime Training Center in Lagos, Arrest 10 Suspects

Lagos, Nigeria – The Lagos State Police Command has dismantled an alleged “Yahoo School” – a training facility for internet fraudsters – in the Iju area of the state, arresting ten suspects in the process.
The Raid and Arrests
According to a statement by Police Spokesman CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, officers conducted a successful operation on Tuesday, apprehending:
- 4 instructors (aged 22 to 26) accused of running the facility
- 6 trainees (aged 12 to 26) allegedly undergoing cybercrime training
Hundeyin revealed that preliminary investigations suggest the suspects were recruited from Anambra State and trained in various forms of internet fraud.
Ongoing Investigations
All suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Yaba for further interrogation and prosecution. Authorities are also working to track down additional accomplices linked to the operation.
Growing Concern Over Cybercrime
This raid highlights Nigeria’s ongoing battle against internet fraud, locally referred to as “Yahoo Yahoo.” Despite law enforcement crackdowns, such illegal training centers continue to emerge, often targeting young people with promises of quick financial gain.
The police have urged parents and guardians to monitor their children’s activities and report suspicious behavior to authorities.
