President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the posting of three ambassadors-designate from the list of 68 nominees earlier confirmed by the Senate in December.

Abuja, January 23, 2026

This was disclosed in a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga. According to the statement, President Tinubu confirmed the posting of Ambassador Ayodele Oke as Nigeria’s Ambassador-designate to France, while Colonel Lateef Are was approved as the Ambassador-designate to the United States of America.

Also approved is the posting of Ambassador Amin Dalhatu, a former Nigerian ambassador to South Korea, as the High Commissioner-designate to the United Kingdom.

The statement further revealed that President Tinubu, in a memo addressed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, directed the ministry to formally notify the governments of the host countries of the appointments. The notification, the President emphasized, should be carried out in line with established diplomatic procedures.

The approval marks the first phase of postings following the Senate’s confirmation of the ambassadorial nominees, as the administration continues efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s diplomatic representation and foreign relations across key global partners.
