PRESIDENT OF THE SENATE AKPABIO CALLS ONLINE STATEMENT FALSE CLAIMS

Abuja, Nigeria – November 3, 2025

President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has firmly denied making a statement attributed to him by an online media platform, Rant HQ, alleging that Nigerians are satisfied with the country’s conditions amid ongoing killings.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Eseme Eyiboh, Akpabio described the publication as “a total falsehood, a product of mischief, and a desperate attempt to incite misunderstanding” between him and former U.S. President Donald Trump, as well as between Nigeria and its international partners.
The Senate President challenged the publishers of Rant HQ to provide credible evidence to substantiate their claims, condemning the report as “digital recklessness” intended to damage reputations and create unnecessary diplomatic tensions.

Akpabio further advised members of the public to disregard the false information, emphasizing that such misinformation only serves to mislead the populace and undermine trust in public institutions.

The statement also warned purveyors of fake news to desist from circulating fabricated and unverified stories, noting that the deliberate spread of falsehoods poses a serious threat to national unity and international relations.
“Those who trade in misinformation should be aware that false narratives have consequences,” Eyiboh cautioned. “The Senate President remains committed to truth, transparency, and the collective well-being of Nigerians.”
