President Tinubu Announces New Service Chiefs

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a major reshuffle of the Nigerian Armed Forces, appointing new service chiefs to head the various branches of the military. The announcement, made from the State House in Abuja, marks a significant step in the President’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the nation’s security architecture and enhance coordination among the armed services.
According to the statement from the Presidency, the newly appointed service chiefs are as follows:

  • Chief of Defence Staff: General Olufemi Oluyede
  • Chief of Army Staff: Major-General W. Shaibu
  • Chief of Air Staff: Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke
  • Chief of Naval Staff: Rear Admiral I. Abbas
  • Chief of Defence Intelligence: Major-General E.A.P.
    President Tinubu commended the outgoing service chiefs for their dedication and service to the nation, while urging the newly appointed officers to bring fresh energy and strategic innovation to their respective commands. He emphasized the need for unity, professionalism, and accountability in tackling the country’s evolving security challenges.
    The new appointments take immediate effect.
