President Tinubu Begins 10-Day Annual Leave in Europe

By Patience George

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially commenced his annual leave, departing Abuja on Thursday, September 4, 2025, for a working vacation in Europe.

According to a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, the 10-day leave will see President Tinubu spending time in both France and the United Kingdom before returning to Nigeria.

A 10-Day Working Vacation

While described as a vacation, the trip is also considered a working leave, allowing the President to balance rest with official engagements. The leave will run for 10 working days, during which the President is expected to remain accessible for matters of national importance.

Tradition of Presidential Leave

Like his predecessors, President Tinubu’s vacation aligns with the routine practice of Nigerian presidents taking short breaks while still maintaining oversight of government functions. His temporary absence is not expected to disrupt governance, as key officials remain in place to oversee day-to-day operations.

Return to Nigeria

At the end of his vacation, President Tinubu will return to the country to resume his full presidential duties.
