PRESIDENT TINUBU COMMISERATES WITH VICTIMS OF IBAJI BOAT MISHAP; URGES WATER TRANSPORT OPERATORS TO PRIORITIZE SAFETY

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep condolences to the government and people of Kogi State following the tragic boat accident in Ibaji Local Government Area that occurred on Tuesday, resulting in the loss of several lives.
In a statement released by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, it was reported that the victims were traders traveling from Ibaji LGA in Kogi State to Ilushi market in Edo State when the mishap occurred.
President Tinubu described the incident as both shocking and deeply unfortunate, especially given that the victims were engaged in their legitimate efforts to earn a living. He commended the prompt response of first responders at the scene and called on federal, state, and local emergency agencies to intensify their efforts in providing critical assistance to survivors and affected families.
Emphasizing the importance of safety, the President urged all water transport operators to prioritize the lives of their passengers above financial gains in their daily operations.
Concluding his statement, President Tinubu prayed for the peaceful repose of those who lost their lives and wished a swift recovery for the injured.
