PRESIDENT TINUBU DIRECTS RENEWED HOPE AMBASSADORS TO DISTRIBUTE RICE NATIONWIDE DURING RAMADAN AND LENT

Abuja, Nigeria — 16 March 2026

The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has directed members of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors to commence the nationwide distribution of rice to vulnerable Nigerians as part of humanitarian support during the sacred seasons of Ramadan and Lent.

The initiative, which is aimed at providing relief to citizens observing the fasting periods, reflects the administration’s commitment to easing the burden on households and promoting compassion, unity, and shared responsibility during the important religious observances.

According to the directive, the rice distribution will be carried out across states and communities nationwide to ensure that the benefits reach those most in need. The programme is designed to support families facing economic hardship while encouraging acts of kindness and solidarity among Nigerians.

President Tinubu emphasized that the simultaneous observance of Ramadan by Muslims and Lent by Christians presents a unique moment for national reflection, sacrifice, and generosity. He noted that the spirit of the season calls for empathy and collective support for one another, particularly the less privileged in society.

The Renewed Hope Ambassadors were therefore tasked with coordinating with relevant community leaders and local structures to ensure transparent and effective distribution of the food items.

The President reaffirmed that his administration remains committed to policies and programmes that will improve the welfare of Nigerians while fostering national unity and shared prosperity.

The rice distribution initiative forms part of the broader Renewed Hope agenda aimed at supporting citizens and strengthening social intervention efforts across the country during significant national and religious periods.
